We are seeking an experienced Business Development Director - Senior Director on behalf of our clientsto drive commercial growth for the US CDMO/CRO business. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities with biotech and pharmaceutical clients, with a strong focus on biologics and/or advanced modalities. The ideal candidate combines strong industry relationships, technical understanding, and a consultative, client-facing approach.
Key Responsibilities Business Development & Sales- Own and drive the full BD lifecycle: lead generation, qualification, proposal development, negotiation, and deal closure
- Develop and execute a US-focused BD strategy aligned with company growth objectives
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline across biotech and pharma clients (early to late stage)
- Meet or exceed annual revenue and booking targets
- Serve as the primary commercial contact for prospective and existing clients in the US
- Build trusted, long-term relationships through a consultative and solutions-oriented approach
- Represent the company at industry conferences, partnering meetings, and networking events
- Work closely with technical, CMC, project management, and operations teams to develop competitive and realistic proposals
- Translate client needs into clear internal requirements and align on scope, timelines, and pricing
- Support contract negotiations in collaboration with legal and finance teams
- Monitor market trends, client needs, and competitive landscape in the CDMO/CRO space
- Provide feedback to leadership on service offerings, pricing strategy, and portfolio gaps
- Contribute to strategic planning and commercial positioning initiatives
- 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or commercial roles within a CDMO and/or CRO environment
- Strong understanding of drug development, particularly biologics and/or complex modalities
- Proven track record of closing mid-to-large commercial deals with biotech and pharma clients
- Established industry network within the US life sciences ecosystem
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate independently in a remote or field-based role
- Technical or scientific background (e.g., life sciences, chemistry, biology, engineering)
- Experience selling CMC, process development, analytical, manufacturing, or related services
- Familiarity with early-stage through commercial development programs
- Prior experience working with global delivery teams or international CDMO/CRO organizations
- Strategic, consultative selling mindset
- Strong commercial judgment and deal-shaping skills
- Comfort interfacing with both scientific and executive-level stakeholders
- High accountability, self-motivation, and results orientation
- Ability to balance growth objectives with long-term client partnerships
- Up to 30–50% travel within the US (and occasional international travel as needed)
