Job Summary
Performs and/or supervises one or more general and specialized clerical and administrative services essential to the operation of all University departments; also performs other related duties as required.
Position classified under University series concept / job specification for classification 4722. Works under general direction on operational and/or procedural assignments requiring considerable discretion and independent judgment, determining methods and procedures on new assignments and recommending solutions.
Department DescriptionThe Adult Medical Transitional unit provides care to a diverse adult patient population with an emphasis on acute and chronic medicine patients. Patients are transitioned from adult critical care units, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Emergency Department and acute care floors to this unit. The unit handles patients with end‑stage renal disease, DKA, new arrhythmias, respiratory compromise, sepsis screening, infectious diseases, central lines, wound care, nasogastric tubes, Q2 medications, electrolyte replacements and requires maximal assistance for activities of daily living.
It has 30 beds with telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry monitoring, plus 2 additional acute care beds activated as needed. Nurses work in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment with strong teamwork and collaboration.
- Supervise and perform general and specialized clerical and administrative services for all university departments.
- Assist with operational and procedural assignments, exercising discretion and independent judgment.
- Determine methods and procedures for new assignments and provide recommendations for solutions.
- High school graduation and four years of related administrative experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Thorough knowledge of administrative procedures and processes including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, multitasking and time‑management skills.
- Interpersonal and work‑leadership skills to provide guidance to other non‑exempt personnel.

SalaryThe salary range for this position is $29.03–$41.55 (Hourly Rate). Final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Placement within the salary range depends on work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement follows collective bargaining agreement rules.
