We’re looking for a detail-driven Payroll Accountant to own accurate, compliant, and timely payroll operations across multiple entities. This is more than payroll processing — it’s a role for someone who understands the accounting side of payroll, enjoys digging into reconciliations and audits, and takes pride in delivering a flawless employee pay experience.
You’ll work closely with Human Resources and Finance
, supporting employees, leadership, and external auditors while helping strengthen internal controls and improve payroll processes.
Process biweekly payroll accurately and on time using payroll systems
Validate, balance, and audit payroll each cycle to ensure compliance
Prepare payroll-related management reports, reconciliations, and analytics
Perform monthly payroll close, including account reconciliations and accrual reviews
Maintain payroll systems and employee records, including new hires and changes
Partner with HR on onboarding, payroll changes, and benefits administration
Prepare and reconcile benefit deductions including medical, dental, garnishments, FSA, and 403(b)
Manage benefit data uploads with third‑party administrators
Prepare COBRA calculations and payroll inputs as required
Serve as a trusted resource for employees regarding pay and time reporting questions
Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies with accuracy and discretion
Prepare General Ledger journal entries for payroll, workers’ compensation, and accrued benefits
Compile payroll data for government, city, and contract reporting
Support annual audits and provide documentation to external auditors
Distribute W‑2s and other required payroll documentation
Assist with special projects and continuous process improvements
What We’re Looking ForRequired
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of payroll and accounting experience
Strong knowledge of payroll administration and compliance
Experience with payroll and timekeeping systems (Ulti Pro or similar preferred)
Working knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Advanced Excel skills and high data‑entry accuracy
Ability to manage deadlines, multiple priorities, and confidential information
