Assistant Controller

Overview of Assistant Controller:

  • Supervise, lead, and support the Accounting Manager.
  • Prepare internal consolidated financial statements on a regular basis.
  • Assist the Senior Controller with the preparation of the monthly financial statements, external audit and with the establishment as well as maintenance of internal controls.
  • Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and research tax matters as assigned.
  • Ensure general ledger accounts are analyzed and reconciled on a regular basis.
  • Oversee the aging and transactions of selected balance sheet accounts as assigned.
  • Prepare the invoicing of various agency-wide expenditures and the monitoring of these accounts.
  • Work with Accounting Manager to reconcile the intercompany account balances on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and projections.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
  • 5 plus years of work experience in finance, accounting, or business operations; previous experience in a non-profit organization desirable.
  • CPA license or 2-4 years of public accounting experience.
  • Must have intermediate computer skills, including MS Office applications and prior ERP knowledge.
  • Net Suite or Yardi experience a plus.
  • Previous experience in accounting management or other related fields.
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and growth-oriented environment, while maintaining a positive approach.
  • Works well independently, as well as part of a team.
  • High comfort in collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds and experience.
