Assistant Controller

Overview of Assistant Controller:
- Supervise, lead, and support the Accounting Manager.
- Prepare internal consolidated financial statements on a regular basis.
- Assist the Senior Controller with the preparation of the monthly financial statements, external audit and with the establishment as well as maintenance of internal controls.
- Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and research tax matters as assigned.
- Ensure general ledger accounts are analyzed and reconciled on a regular basis.
- Oversee the aging and transactions of selected balance sheet accounts as assigned.
- Prepare the invoicing of various agency-wide expenditures and the monitoring of these accounts.
- Work with Accounting Manager to reconcile the intercompany account balances on a monthly basis.
- Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and projections.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
- 5 plus years of work experience in finance, accounting, or business operations; previous experience in a non-profit organization desirable.
- CPA license or 2-4 years of public accounting experience.
- Must have intermediate computer skills, including MS Office applications and prior ERP knowledge.
- Net Suite or Yardi experience a plus.
- Previous experience in accounting management or other related fields.
- Strong leadership qualities
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and growth-oriented environment, while maintaining a positive approach.
- Works well independently, as well as part of a team.
- High comfort in collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds and experience.
