Tax Accountant, Tax Manager
If you’re a tax professional who enjoys doing the work, owning your returns end‑to‑end, and working directly with clients, this role may be a great fit. We’re a small, specialized firm looking for a Senior Tax Accountant who thrives in a hands‑on environment and isn’t afraid of complexity — especially K‑1‑heavy and private equity‑related returns. The salary for this is $125,000 to $175,000 depending on experience.
You’ll be deeply involved in complex partnership and individual returns, including filings with 100+ K‑1s, and you’ll have real visibility into how each return is built from start to finish. You’ll also interact directly with clients, helping move work forward and providing clear communication during tax season.
What you’ll be doing :- Preparing complex federal and state partnership and individual tax returns
- Working extensively with K‑1‑intensive and private equity‑related filings
- Reviewing and organizing K‑1s and supporting documentation
- Preparing and tracking California e‑filing payment schedules
- Gathering tax information, tracking deadlines, and supporting compliance from start to finish
- Handling some tax administration (about 20% of the role) as part of owning the full process
- Working directly with clients to follow up on open items and provide status updates
- Supporting a variety of engagements in a generalist, collaborative environment
- Open to a senior‑level contributor or a hands‑on supervisor
- You must be comfortable preparing returns — this is not a review‑only or purely managerial role
- Small firm environment where flexibility, accountability, and practical contribution matter
- 3+ years of tax experience
- Strong experience with partnership and individual returns
- Background in public accounting or a public/private mix
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple deadlines
- CPA or MST preferred, not required
- You enjoy complex tax work and want to stay technical
- You value stability, autonomy, and direct client interaction
- You’re okay with limited upward mobility in exchange for meaningful, hands‑on work
If you like rolling up your sleeves, want to work on interesting and challenging returns, and are looking for a steady role where your work truly matters, we’d love to connect.
