Regulatory Compliance Specialist
General Description of Duties
This position requires proven leadership in the regulatory affairs field for food, flavor, and/or beverage products and experience with training less experienced regulatory professionals. Requires experience with safety data sheet production and a thorough understanding of safe shipping requirements. The position will also require application of domestic and international regulation to products intended for use worldwide. This individual must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with those inside and outside the company, while achieving and enhancing performance standards.
EssentialJob Functions
- Assists in the collection and management of regulatory and technical documents from suppliers as well as maintenance of substantiation database.
- Review regulatory and technical documents from suppliers for compliance with AFF company requirements as part of supplier approval process.
- Gather supporting information as needed to generate routine documents for AFF finished products including Allergen, GMO, Bioengineered, Ingredient Statement, Country of Origin, Vegan, Natural, and of non-standard documents in response to requests for information about AFF finished products.
- Review regulations and supplier documents to determine International Compliance for raw materials and maintain this information in the AFF compliance database.
- Review finished product formulas for R&D guidance and customer request for international compliance.
- Generate draft documents to support AFF ingredient registration for import to various foreign countries and customs agent request.
- Complete documents and questionnaires to assist customer product certification.
- Review finished product formulas for regulatory statues, maintain database, and apply for religious and Organic certification.
- Submit for TTB approval and generate FIDS, for manager approval.
- Participate in SDS production and provide guidance to team.
- Research domestic and international regulations.

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science or other scientific discipline.
- 3-5 years of relevant regulatory experience.
- Experience with Halal, Kosher and Organic certification process.
- Experience with International Regulations preferred.
- Adept at using logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems.
- Excellent attention to accuracy and detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including analysis, interpretation, and reasoning).
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing work to meet multiple deadlines.
- High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
