The Electrophysiology Lab, part of the Cardiovascular Intervention Center, is a core element of the Smidt Heart Institute, performing more than 8,000 procedures a year. The department serves populations from neonates to geriatrics. In this twelve‑laboratory facility, we perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for coronary artery disease, heart muscle function, arrhythmias, and heart valve dysfunction.

• Work in a fast‑paced Electrophysiology Lab setting, cross‑trained to circulate, monitor, and scrub for invasive procedures for patients ranging from neonate to geriatric.
• Provide care for Cardiac Electrophysiology patients undergoing ablations, pacemaker and ICD insertions, and other electrophysiology procedures.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and delivery of patient care, including prolonged hours in a procedure setting with x‑ray exposure.
• On‑call coverage for emergency procedures, weekends and holidays, with an expected maximum response/arrival time of 2 hours.
• Complete a schedule of four 10‑hour shifts and participate in an on‑call rotation for weekends and holidays.

BSN – Strongly preferred.

• Valid California RN license – required.
• ACLS – required.
• CCRN, CVRN, or Electrophysiology specific certification – preferred. Candidates must commit to obtaining a specialty certification within one year of hire to maintain CNIII status.

• Minimum of 3 years of Acute Care Nursing experience – required.
• Minimum of 1 year of Critical Care experience – strongly recommended.
• Special Procedures/Cardiac Cath Lab/EP experience in diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for all patient populations – preferred for CN II or III qualification.
• Minimum 2 years of appropriate Cath Lab/EP experience required for CN III qualification (otherwise considered CN II).
• Minimum 3–5 years RN experience for Clinical Nurse III critical care or emergency department – strongly recommended.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and transport patients, equipment, gurneys; pull and transfer patients from bed to procedure table. Stand for prolonged periods while wearing lead aprons weighing 15–20 lbs.
