Overview
The Transportation Manager will oversee and optimize Chosen Foods’ end‑to‑end domestic and international transportation network, including outbound shipments to retail and club customers and inbound freight from co‑manufacturing partners to 3PL distribution centers. This role drives cost, service, and efficiency improvements through lane bid execution, carrier performance management, and balancing customer pickup versus delivered freight economics. The Transportation Manager will also lead network optimization initiatives, international freight strategy development, and quarterly analysis of freight cost trends and inflation drivers—partnering cross‑functionally to enhance service, reduce total landed cost, and support ongoing business growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation Strategy & Global Network Optimization
- Oversee all domestic and international freight movements from origin through final destination, including outbound retail/club deliveries and inbound co‑manufacturer shipments to 3PL distribution centers.
- Continuously assess the transportation network to achieve the most cost‑efficient balance between customer pickup and delivered freight.
- Develop and execute international transportation strategies that support service targets, business growth, and total landed cost optimization.
Carrier & 3PL Management
- Lead carrier selection, rate negotiations, lane bid management, and contract performance to ensure competitive pricing and reliable service.
- Partner with the 3PL Manager to evaluate and optimize 3PL performance, scalability, service quality, and cost efficiency.
- Monitor carrier service levels, freight cost trends, and operational KPIs to identify improvement opportunities.
Operational Support & Project Leadership
- Support high priority transportation and logistics initiatives across domestic and international networks to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and strengthen customer satisfaction.
- Provide guidance on routing, capacity planning, scheduling, and logistics best practices—including international compliance and documentation support.
Financial Ownership, Forecasting & Market Insights
- Own international freight and brokerage forecasting, budgeting, auditing, and invoice approvals.
- Deliver quarterly insights on freight related inflation, market dynamics, and cost drivers; recommend strategies to mitigate cost pressures.
Cross Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner closely with Sales, Customer Logistics, Supply Chain, Planning, Sourcing, Finance, IT, and Operations to align transportation strategies with business objectives.
- Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and total landed cost.
- Demonstrate leadership capability and growth mindset to support long term career advancement within the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or 3PL management—CPG experience preferred.
- Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics service providers domestically and internationally.
- International logistics experience, including understanding of import/export processes, compliance, and documentation.
- Proven ability to lead lane bids, negotiate rates, and manage carrier/3PL performance.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen with experience evaluating cost benefit scenarios, forecasting, and interpreting freight market trends.
- Knowledge of freight markets, transportation regulations, and inflationary cost drivers.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent cross functional communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in TMS/logistics software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
