Responsibilities:Non-Emergency Medical Transport Class B Driver w/ passenger endorsements
Monday-Friday (flexibility between 630am-530pm)
The Driver is responsible for transporting residents to and from appointments and outings using the community vehicles, which may include bus, van, limousine, sedan and trams. This position plays a pivotal role in connecting patients with vital medical services.
This position ensures residents receive all appropriate assistance during outings. Driver fulfills all operational tasks involving driving.
A typical day will include:
- Safely transporting residents from community to medical appointments
- On arrival at medical facilities, assists residents in exiting the vehicle and reaching the proper offices or treatment areas
- Managing own schedule to to ensure seamless care when coordinating appointments
- Expertly securing passengers, wheelchairs and other necessary mobile devices inside the vehicle
- Engaging in effective communication with residents, understanding their unique needs and concerns
- Qualified applicants are required to possess a minimum 6 months of experience as a bus/van driver.
- Must possess a valid and current driver's license for vehicle class driven at time of hire.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required or must be willing and able to become CPR and First Aid certified.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Must possess and maintain a clean DMV driving record.
- Knowledge of the surrounding neighborhood area.
- Excellent communication skills, patience and the ability to deal with stress and the needs of older adults.
- Ability to use a client and customer- focused approach to problem solving and goal setting.
- Must be sensitive to the needs of older adults.
