Weapons Department Support

As a Weapons Department SME, you’ll assist the LOGSU-1 Weapons Officer and Weapons LCPO in maintaining operational excellence across the Armory, Ordnance, and Visual Augmentation Systems (VAS) divisions. Your role ensures meticulous control of sensitive inventories, facilitates accurate record‑keeping, and drives seamless execution of weapons and equipment logistics.
- Oversee all aspects of DPAS (Defense Property Accountability System) for receipt, issue, storage, transportation, and shipment of weapons, VAS, and accessories.
- Process incoming inventory to verify serial numbers, NSNs, quantity, description, and cost in alignment with shipment documentation.
- Submit Annual Asset Verification Reports for weapons and VASWA items to Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, Indiana.
- Maintain visibility and control of inventory using automated inventory systems, ensuring accurate and up‑to‑date records.
- Develop and execute inventory schedules, compile audit results, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Track assessments and updates for weapons and VASWA assets within DPAS, contributing to lifecycle accountability.
- Organize and maintain documentation archives in accordance with Navy regulations and departmental standards.
- Active SECRET clearance required at time of hire.
- Demonstrated experience in inventory management, weapons logistics, or property accountability within a military or government setting preferred.
- Familiarity with DPAS or similar property accountability systems highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining secure, compliant documentation.
- Possess a valid state driver’s license.
- Be able to drive Government‑owned trucks, forklifts and vans. No CDL license required.
- Currently hold and maintain an active Secret Clearance.
- Be able to operate a Personal Computer (PC) with common/standard business software programs. Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Have direct knowledge of installation level and strategic support logistic programs and systems that relate to logistic capability and capacity.
