Overview
The Route Driver/Courier Floater provides exceptional delivery and courier services. This position receives orders from a centralized dispatch, retrieves parcels/mail from local offices, and delivers them timely and safely. The role may serve as a backup to front or back office functions and supports a professional image of the company through prompt, courteous service.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide 5-star customer service to all employees in all forms of communication.
- Travel a predefined courier route via automobile to deliver mail and parcels throughout the campus.
- Keep logs and time stamps of items received and delivered.
- Support chain of custody requirements defined within operating procedures.
- Perform pick-up and delivery of jobs by following maps and/or written instructions.
- Respond to client requests and ensure accurate orders are delivered in a timely manner.
- Complete all paperwork in a timely, accurate, and legible manner.
- Operate a vehicle in a safe and lawful manner and follow company guidelines in the event of an accident or injury.
- Presents professional appearance to clients by dressing in professional attire per company standards.
- Maintain routine vehicle maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, etc.) and service the vehicle driven (check fluid levels, refuel as needed).
- Deliver mail and parcels campus-wide; perform pick-up and delivery as needed.
- Respond to client requests accurately and promptly.
- Proactively seek additional work during downtime.
- Build professional relationships with customers and other teams; maintain professionalism and composure when interacting with all employees.
- Train backups and provide guidance on policies and procedures.
- Determine additional support needed when handling sensitive inquiries.
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients and front or back office coverage as needed.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to handle multiple tasks; good organizational skills; working knowledge of MFD equipment.
- Understand shipping/receiving procedures and comprehend instructions; work independently and complete projects; determine correct packing methods and validate packing slips for accuracy of incoming/outgoing materials.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
- 2+ years prior work experience preferred.
- Current state-issued driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Ability to work assigned hours determined by manager.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Analytical problem-solving abilities; superb written and verbal communication skills.
- Current knowledge or ability to learn computer-based systems required for position functions.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude; adhere to all policies and procedures.
- Approximately 50% of the time this position requires the following physical demands:
- Fine and/or gross motor skills to grasp, lift and move packages on a standard wheeled cart up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, stand, and/or sit for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity for operating office machinery.
- Ability to lift or move 40 lbs or greater frequently.
- Ability to operate a standard company motor vehicle.
Local travel required.
