Position Summary
The Football Recruiting Coordinator provides administrative and operational coordination for football recruiting within the Department of Athletics at San Diego State University. Reporting to the Director of Player Personnel, this position supports the evaluation, tracking, and communication of prospective student-athletes while coordinating recruiting visits, events, and recruiting operations in compliance with NCAA, conference, and university regulations. The role supports a competitive, organized, and compliant Division I football recruiting program.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate administrative and operational aspects of football recruiting, including prospect evaluation, data entry, database management, reports, and recruiting materials.
- Conduct initial review and analysis of prospective student-athlete film and recommend prospects for further evaluation.
- Manage recruiting databases, recruiting boards, mailings, questionnaires, and ongoing communication with prospects, coaches, and counselors.
- Coordinate unofficial and official recruiting visits, including itineraries, campus tours, travel logistics, compliance documentation, and game-day recruiting operations.
- Provide work direction and training to recruiting interns and support recruiting events such as Junior Day and home game visits.
- Gain hands-on experience supporting Division I football recruiting at a nationally recognized athletics program.
- Work closely with football operations, coaching staff, and player personnel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Develop skills in recruiting operations, data management, event coordination, and NCAA compliance.

Position Information- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of February 28, 2027, with the possibility of reappointment.
- This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. (Ability to work evenings, weekends and occasional travel)
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over 150 employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University. Currently, there are 18 sport programs, approximately 550 student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department. The offices include the following:
The Aztec Club, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, Corporate Sales, Development, Equipment, Event Management/Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.
Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Key Qualifications- Experience and proficiency with DVSport, HUDL & Microsoft Visio
- Knowledge of Pro Football Focus, National Preps, Teamworks & ARMS recruiting software
- One or more years of general office clerical work
- Some experience in intercollegiate athletics, especially in a Division I football office
- General knowledge of football
- Ability to learn office and football terminology
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees and coaches, and other campus staff, faculty, and student-athletes
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, and occasional travel with the football team
