Special Olympics San Diego Swim Coach

Help launch a brand new swim team! Special Olympics Southern California is starting a new swim team at the Copley-Price YMCA—and they're looking for volunteer coaches to help make it happen! You’ll support athletes in practice alongside a head coach and be part of something truly meaningful. Come make an impact in the pool—SOSC would love to have you!

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Head Coach in creating, organizing and conducting a comprehensive sports training program
• Train athletes during scheduled practice times as well as accompany team to competitions
• Create and maintain a positive and fun environment for all athletes

Skills &

Qualifications:

• No prior SOSC experience required—just enthusiasm and a love of working with athletes.
• This project is able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations.

Time Commitment: Sundays, 12pm - 2pm from March 7, 2026 - June 7, 2026

The mission of Special Olympics Southern California is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
