Francis Parker School (Parker) is a coeducational independent day school in San Diego, California with 1,330 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. 5) and a second in Linda Vista (Middle and Upper School, Grades 6 – 12).
Responsible for the coordination or for assisting with the coordination of Parker sports program. This includes teaching, coaching, instructing student‑athletes and performing other duties necessary to the development of players and teams, which demonstrates the skills and values of Parker’s Mission and the athletic department philosophy.

Student‑athletes benefit not only physically and emotionally by participating and competing in sports, but also by developing critical skills (e.g., teamwork, resilience, leadership, tenacity, etc.) that promote success in the classroom, in college and in life.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of sport including knowledge of all CIF and NFHS rules and regulations; skills, tactics, and techniques.
- Organize and supervise well‑planned, safe, and efficient practices and games by utilizing coaching staff effectively. Prepare the team for competition.
- Conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner and present oneself as a positive role model for the student‑athletes. Respect, motivate, and inspire the team. Display encouraging conduct and a positive attitude with student‑athletes, coaches, parents, officials, and spectators.
- Develop team concepts in student‑athletes within the values‑driven framework of Parker. Promote sportsmanship and respect for game rules and for officials. Provide a good balance between skill development and team concepts. Address each player as part of a team.
- Assist student‑athletes to reach their full potential. Provide an enjoyable environment and experience.
- Handle administrative responsibilities such as resolving disciplinary issues appropriately and effectively; ensuring student‑athlete medical and academic eligibility; and completing other administrative responsibilities in a timely and responsible manner (e.g., grade checks, student‑athlete records, timesheets, human resources requirements). Act responsibly with regards to equipment, uniforms, etc.; assist equipment and locker room personnel as necessary; assist with planning and budgeting for the sport;
and inventory equipment. - Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, faculty, administrators, other coaches, and the community as appropriate. Deliver results to the school and media in a timely manner. Promote programs in the local and state communities.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one‑year experience in coaching.
- High school or collegiate athletic participation or coaching is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to relate effectively with a variety of individuals, including students, coaches, staff, physicians, parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends on a frequent basis.
- Physical activity such as walking, standing, running, bending, crouching, lifting, carrying, etc.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday after 3 pm, but weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
This is a seasonal/part‑time position paying $18.75/hr the position is not eligible for benefits.
