Senior Java Engineer (with Go experience)

We are seeking a strong Senior Java Developer with good technical expertise to be responsible for the backend development of a distributed platform for one of the largest world‑leading retailers. This role requires a key member of a collaborative team with experts recognized worldwide, contributing to next‑generation network‑centric distributed and scalable architectures using J2EE, microservices, and cloud platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud Platform in an Agile environment.

• Design and implement feature improvements to back‑end software systems used by Rich Communications Services (RCS) and Google Messages.
• Review Product Requirements Documents (PRD) defining desired system changes, and independently produce software designs, database schema changes, and implementation schedules meeting the requirements in the PRDs.
• Write software changes and tests in Java meeting professional and Google standards that implement the specified changes.
• Write software changes and tests in Go meeting professional and Google standards that implement the specified changes.

• 5 years professional experience in a full‑time software engineering role.
• 3 years working on services that run in a large‑scale cloud environment (e.g., AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, or Google’s private cloud system).
• Professional experience writing or modifying database schemas (e.g., MySQL or Google Spanner).
• 3 years using the Java programming language as well as Go.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related major.

• Knowledge of Google’s internal software development tools and frameworks (e.g., Piper, TAP, Boq).
• Prior experience working with Google internal back‑ends.
• Hands‑on experience with synthetic calls, RPC calls, server‑to‑server communication, reliability, and scalability.
• Ability to create clear and engaging developer documentation (tutorials, samples, or videos).
• Experience with Gemini function calling, Vertex AI Studio, and prompt engineering.
• Familiarity with rich messaging APIs (RBM, Whats App Business, Apple Business Messages, etc.).
