Fleet Services By Cox Automotive is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel and Trailer Technician Level II
.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT Inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, braking, cooling systems, starters/alternators, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and related components.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment including electrical, brake/cooling systems, air conditioning, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments and pressure gauges; road test vehicles to verify repairs.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and company-issued service truck equipment, with periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections.
  • Communicate with clients to assess needs and provide information, resolutions, and satisfactory service.
  • Manage concurrent tasks with effective prioritization and scheduling.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks; document work performed and parts used on RO via iOS device and TRAIT application.
  • Complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly; obtain approvals for repair estimates and discuss RO findings as needed.
  • Work independently with strong time management and maintain productivity within standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for repairs.
  • Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related experience, or equivalent combination of education/certification; 5 years’ related experience may also be considered.
  • Own a set of hand tools required to perform duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
  • Must pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical; valid DOT medical card may be substituted under certain conditions.
  • 21 years of age or older due to interstate commerce regulations; valid driver’s license and ability to maintain Driver Qualification File.
Certifications
  • Required:

    ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
Preferred Certifications
  • ASE T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems), T7 (HVAC), T8/607/609 as applicable.
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to interpret new information for problem solving and decision-making.
  • Physical capability to lift, bend, climb, stand, walk for extended periods and perform moderately heavy labor.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with clients and teammates.
  • Ability to determine the appropriate tools and equipment needed for tasks.
  • Spatial awareness and logical reasoning to evaluate solutions and alternatives.
