Overview

We are seeking a Network Installation Technician to join our team supporting Enterprise Infrastructure Installation Support. Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct contractor personnel during network installation projects, ensuring compliance with project requirements and safety standards.
  • Lead the analysis, design, and installation of local and wide area networks, and communications systems across diverse environments.
  • Perform and document site surveys; assess and record existing network configurations to support design and planning efforts.
  • Organize and manage all phases of network installations, including the development of engineering plans and site-specific technical design packages.
  • Develop detailed installation schedules and mobilize installation teams for deployment.
  • Oversee the preparation of drawings to document configuration changes and final installations at each site.
  • Prepare and review site installation and testing reports to ensure system functionality and project close-out compliance.
  • Coordinate post-installation operations and ongoing maintenance support to ensure sustained performance.
  • Interpret and execute tasks based on vendor documentation, technical specifications, engineering letters, and industry job aids.
  • Install, test, and remove overhead cable mounts, Ethernet, and fiber cabling, ensuring compliance with structured cabling standards.
  • Work safely and effectively in overhead racks, grids, and confined spaces; operate scissor lifts and climb ladders or staircases when required.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs independently, and up to 90 lbs with assistance, while working in demanding and high-paced environments.
  • Maintain adherence to DoD, EIA/TIA, BICSI, and OSHA standards throughout installation and support activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience:

    Obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance within 12 months of hire.
  • 5+ years of cabling experience in the data communications industry.
  • Hands-on installation/removal of overhead equipment mounts with wired, wireless, and RF environments, including 802.11b/g/a/n standards and WLAN/WWAN/WMAN deployment/support.
  • Experience organizing and leading large-scale network installations, including on-site assessments and technical plan preparation.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation, network topologies, and cabling infrastructure standards.
  • Experience interpreting technical documentation and performing work per industry-standard installation practices.
  • Aerial lift training, Confined Space training, Forklift training, and ten (10) Hour OSHA Basic Industry course.
  • Ability to install cable infrastructure, communications equipment and materials, Ethernet, and fiber cabling to include termination and testing as well as installing/removing overhead equipment mounts.
Skills
  • Strong understanding of telecommunications and data cabling systems, materials, and testing procedures.
  • Ability to install and terminate copper and fiber cabling infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in coordinating and documenting technical installation processes.
  • Physical capability to perform manual tasks in physically demanding environments.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills in high-pressure scenarios.
Certifications
  • Active BICSI Technician or Installer certification
  • DoD 8140 Baseline Certification within 12 months of the 8140 requirements being fully vetted and identified

    Certifications:

    BICSI Level 1 and/or Level 2 copper and fiber as required
