Maintenance Worker / HVAC Electrical
SDCCD invites qualified candidates to join our Facilities & Operations Team. In this role, you will support the maintenance and operation of our campus facilities, working across custodial, landscaping, and building functions.
Responsibilities- Perform HVAC and electrical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting tasks on residential and commercial equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and equipment manuals to schedule and document work.
- Work independently with minimal direction while ensuring safety standards and environmental controls are met.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to provide reliable infrastructure that supports learning and campus growth.
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and records related to HVAC and electrical operations.
- At least three years of experience in building construction or maintenance trades, including one year of apprentice‑level HVAC or electrical repair.
- Knowledge of HVAC equipment, refrigeration, electrical systems, energy‑management controls, and safe work practices.
- Proficiency with tools and equipment used to maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and electrical systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse educational environment.
- Ability to read schematics, drawings, and blueprints and to maintain detailed work logs.
Foreign‑degree holders must submit credential evaluations from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member or the Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute (ACEI) with their application.
Requirements for Employment- Submit official college transcripts.
- Provide a valid Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewable every four years).
- Undergo a Live Scan fingerprinting session with clearance before the first day.
- Present original documents proving U.S. employment eligibility (I‑9 form).
- Attend a new‑hire appointment at the District Administrative Offices.
Position is a Step D ($5,431.85) with no salary negotiation.
