Repairs and upgrades forklift trucks and transportation vehicles by listening to operator's description of malfunctions, conducting tests, identifying problems and finding resolutions. Submit purchase order request for parts. Maintains a safe work environment by verifying vehicle safety device operation; following standards and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains forklift truck and vehicle serviceability by completing preventive maintenance requirements and repairs to include;

hydraulics systems, electrical systems, and drive train overhauling. Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.

• Change and fill batteries and general maintenance on forklifts and stock selectors.

• Must have High School Diploma or GED (May substitute experience for education on a year-by-year basis).
• Equivalent training/ experience, and five years of general experience of which two years must be related experience are required.
• In general, the work of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Preferred candidate will have experience with numerous equipment model lines such as Yale, Hyster, Clark, Crown, Raymond and Mitsubishi forklifts to include electrical, gasoline, propane and diesel models.

• Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including, Word, Excel, Access and E-mail business software.
• Must be able to demonstrate a good attitude and an ability to work as a member of a team.
• Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
• Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail.

• Valid California Driver's License required. CDL preferred.

Works in shop/warehouse environment. Work involves repetitive motions and standing for long periods of time. Work is of a physical nature and requires the incumbent be able to lift 50 lbs overhead and/or repetitively. Outside work in hot and cold or wet weather is occasionally required.
