We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team at our San Diego apartment community.

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance operations of the community, including routine repairs, preventative maintenance, unit turnovers, and emergency response. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, and committed to providing excellent service in an affordable housing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete maintenance work orders accurately, safely, and in a timely manner

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs, including:

    • Plumbing

    • Electrical

    • HVAC

    • Carpentry

    • Appliance repair

  • Assist with unit turnovers to ensure apartments are move-in ready

  • Conduct routine property and unit inspections and address deficiencies

  • Maintain common areas, grounds, and building exteriors to ensure cleanliness, safety, and curb appeal

  • Perform preventative maintenance to minimize long-term repair costs

  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, including after-hours calls as part of the on-call rotation

  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with LIHTC / tax credit housing regulations

  • Maintain organized inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies

  • Participate in on-call rotation as required

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Technical or trade certifications preferred

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in property maintenance or a related field

  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs

  • Experience in tax credit, multifamily, or affordable housing communities preferred

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently

  • Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks

  • Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with residents and staff

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
