We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team at our San Diego apartment community.
Position OverviewThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance operations of the community, including routine repairs, preventative maintenance, unit turnovers, and emergency response. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, and committed to providing excellent service in an affordable housing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesComplete maintenance work orders accurately, safely, and in a timely manner
Perform general maintenance and repairs, including:
Plumbing
Electrical
HVAC
Carpentry
Appliance repair
Assist with unit turnovers to ensure apartments are move-in ready
Conduct routine property and unit inspections and address deficiencies
Maintain common areas, grounds, and building exteriors to ensure cleanliness, safety, and curb appeal
Perform preventative maintenance to minimize long-term repair costs
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, including after-hours calls as part of the on-call rotation
Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with LIHTC / tax credit housing regulations
Maintain organized inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies
Participate in on-call rotation as required
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical or trade certifications preferred
Minimum 2-5 years of experience in property maintenance or a related field
Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs
Experience in tax credit, multifamily, or affordable housing communities preferred
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently
Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks
Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with residents and staff
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Competitive hourly wage (commensurate with experience)
On-site 1-bedroom unit provided (on-call requirements apply)
