Position: Substitute/Limited Term - Skilled Maintenance Worker - Substitute, On-Call, As needed

THIS POSTING IS FOR SUBSTITUTE AND/OR LIMITED-TERM POSITIONS. This position is not eligible for benefits.

SDCOE is recruiting to add to the substitute pool for substitute/limited-term Skilled Maintenance Worker
. Under general supervision, the Skilled Maintenance Worker performs a variety of general building maintenance and occasional construction tasks ranging in complexity from unskilled to skilled, and related to a diversity of trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and painting; maintains facilities in a safe condition. This position will maintain, diagnose, and repair problems with electrical systems including 110- and 220-volt services, light fixtures, switches, fuses, outlets, receptacles, and plugs;

remodel interior office spaces, including reconfiguration of walls and lighting; and re-duct heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

The substitute skilled maintenance worker position requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience involving the maintenance and repair of structures, utilities, plumbing, water and electrical systems. Experience must include the performance of construction tasks.

Note:

grounds maintenance, janitorial or custodial experience is not qualifying.

It is important to note to become a substitute/limited-term employee, there will be a fingerprinting requirement that currently costs $77 (this is an up-front, out-of-pocket cost that must be paid in the form of a money order or cashier’s check). In addition, if you apply and are selected for a permanent position at any point there would be an additional $77 cost (currently) for fingerprinting as a permanent employee (taken out of your first regular paycheck).
