Summary
You will serve as an ELECTRICIAN LEADER in the Department of the Navy, overseeing tasks at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Trident Refit Facility Bangor, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. Applicants are considered only within their assigned UIC (e.g., UIC 4523A).

Duties- Determine placement of electrical distribution panels and other equipment.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, or repair electrical equipment, systems, generators, switchboards, or control equipment in a shipyard environment.
- Operate power tools (pipe benders, cutters, power drills) to cut, bend, fit, and thread components of electrical equipment and systems.
- Use hand tools and test equipment to check alignment, output, resistance to ground and other electrical characteristics.
- Diagnose faulty electrical equipment or systems to determine rework or replacement on nuclear ship alterations and repairs.
- U.S. Citizen, determined suitable for federal employment, and must meet the E‑Verify requirement.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an interim or final security clearance.
- Must be willing to travel to shipyard locations as required and comply with workplace safety and protective equipment protocols.
- Background may include drug testing and medical surveillance; failure to comply can result in withdrawal.
- Ability to lead or supervise.
- Ability to use and maintain hand tools (electrical work).
- Ability to use electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of electrical equipment.
- Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic).
- Theory and instruments (electrical, electronic) used in shop and trade practices.
- Troubleshooting (electrical).
This position does not have an education qualification requirement.
SalaryHourly rate ranges from $30.11 to $50.37, adjusted by work site. Salary is based on the applicable wage schedule for each location.
