This is a full-time, on-site role for a Sous Chef at bar Ella, located in San Diego, CA. The Sous Chef will assist in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensure food preparation is of high quality, and maintain cleanliness and safety standards. Responsibilities include assisting with managing kitchen staff, inventory control, supervising food service, cooking on the line and developing and testing new recipes while maintaining consistency in dish preparation and presentation.
The Sous Chef will support the Head Chef and step into leadership when required.
- Proficiency in Culinary Techniques and Menu Development
- Experience in Kitchen Management, Inventory Control, and Food Costing
- Knowledge of Food Safety and Sanitation Standards
- Strong Leadership and Team Collaboration Skills
- Excellent Time Management and Problem-Solving Abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment
- Culinary school certification or relevant experience preferred but not required
- A passion for cooking, creativity and ability to contribute to creative menu innovation
