Leidos Health & Services sector is seeking a full-time Statistician to join the Department of Defense (DoD) Psychological Health and Readiness team. As a Statistician, you will be the lead analyst on innovative studies examining how individual, unit, and organizational factors-including operational stressors-impact the health and readiness of military service members.
This role offers the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the health and readiness of service members while working with a collaborative team of experts.

You will contribute to the full research lifecycle: from proposal development and protocol submission to project design and execution, stakeholder communication, and dissemination of findings. You will be expected to design and develop methods and processes to clean, integrate, merge, query, and analyze cross-sectional and longitudinal survey data using advanced statistical software.
This position is based in San Diego, CA with a hybrid work schedule combining on-site and telework. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of San Diego and work on-site at the Naval Health Research Center at least two days per week, with additional days as needed for successful study execution. The on-site schedule may vary based on program and customer requirements.
Travel for data collection and briefings is required and should not exceed 25% of work time.

Job Responsibilities
* Contribute to all aspects of research including study design, data collection, statistical analysis, manuscript preparation, and presentation of findings at professional meetings and in peer-reviewed scientific journals
* Develop and evaluate appropriate statistical methodologies, write standards of procedure to perform those methodologies, and perform quality assurance/quality control procedures.
* Conduct advanced statistical analyses such as longitudinal analysis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling, and/or multilevel modeling using SPSS, SAS, R, or similar software
* Conduct descriptive analyses to generate comprehensive study briefs, working within pre-determined timelines
* Effectively communicate processes and results (verbally, graphically, and in writing) for customers and stakeholders.
* Design and develop research proposals for funding, including comprehensive statistical analysis plans
* Assist with regulatory documentation including agreements and the maintenance of research protocols related to funded research projects
* Summarize and communicate findings to be used in grant applications and during dissemination of research.
* Travel to Navy commands to collect data
* Perform other duties and responsibilities as required for the customer research mission.
* Comply with all required Leidos and Government requirements and complete required certifications and trainings.

Requirements
* Master's degree in psychology, public health, epidemiology, or related behavioral/health science discipline
* Minimum 3 years of experience involving proposing, conducting, analyzing, presenting, and publishing human subjects research
* Proficiency in conducting multivariate statistical analyses using SPSS, SAS, Mplus, and/or R
* Demonstrate knowledge and experience in collecting, cleaning, processing, merging, and analyzing research data.
* Demonstrate knowledge of human subjects research.
* Demonstrate excellent critical thinking with problem-solving skills and an ability to work cooperatively in a team setting.
* Be flexible in responding to changing demands, timelines, and priorities.
* Demonstrate strong computer skills.
* Demonstrate the ability to extend and apply the knowledge of research to the missions of the NHRC and Navy customer.
* Ability to travel to operational and austere environments, including U.S. Navy ships, on short notice
* Be a US Citizen and able to acquire and maintain, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level.
Preferred Qualifications:
* PhD in Psychology, Public Health, or related field
* Previous experience conducting research with high technical sophistication in military, veteran, or related populations.
* Evidence of scientific achievement and analytic proficiency in the health research domain is preferred, as demonstrated by the publication of articles and reports, membership in professional scientific organizations, experience in writing and editing technical and scientific research information, and excellent verbal communication skills to confer with professional colleagues/peers.
