Postdoctoral Research Position – University of California, San Diego
A postdoctoral research position is available immediately in the Taffe laboratory within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego, to investigate the influence of drugs of abuse on behavior, brain and physiology using rodent models. Current projects in the laboratory focus on:
- determinants of abuse liability of amphetamine and cathinone derivative psychostimulants
- lasting consequences of repeated adolescent exposure to nicotine and cannabinoids via vapor inhalation
- the transition to escalated use of opioids across the lifespan from adolescence to middle age
Applicants should have a recent doctoral degree in neuroscience, behavioral pharmacology, experimental psychology or related field and a strong interest in behavioral substance abuse research. An ability to think critically and creatively, to work independently and strong writing and communication skills are essential. Previous experience with in vivo rodent models is preferred, but not required.
