Cabrillo Pet Hospital is a team-focused, fun place to work and care for all the furry friends. We are a large, multi-service practice offering veterinary services, boarding & day camp, and a pet store in beautiful San Diego, California. We are proudly AAHA accredited and have been serving the Point Loma and Ocean Beach community since 1975.

We are currently looking to hire a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team! Must LOVE Dentistry! Open to VTS in Dentistry! Our ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves animals and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience rooming patients, surgical assisting experience and knowledge of equipment used, drawing blood and running lab work, knowledge of x-rays and proper positioning, experience with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education, and being a positive and motivating team member.

  • Salary: $27 - 33 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, education, and licensure.
  • Schedule:

    Five 8-hour shifts, Monday
    - Friday

Who you are:

  • Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California, license must be active and in good standing.
  • 3+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
  • Passion for working with animals and their owners
  • Experience with proper animal handling and restraint, Fear Free preferred
  • Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
  • Perform basic exam procedures
  • Skilled in venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
  • Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
  • Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting, and extractions
  • Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
  • Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); in-house laboratory equipment
  • Ability to utilize ultrasound to obtain diagnostic images and urine samples preferred
  • Excellent client communication/education
  • Ability to perform Technician appointments independently, including accurate medical record documentation
