Part‑Time Registered Veterinary Technician
Join us at Cabrillo Pet Hospital (Ameri Vet Veterinary Partners) as a part‑time registered veterinary technician. This role is ideal for individuals who love dentistry and have experience in surgical assisting, laboratory work, and client education.
Salary and Schedule- $30–$34 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, education, and licensure.
- Part‑time. Three 8‑hour shifts per week.
- 4134 Voltaire St, San Diego, CA 92107.
We are a team‑focused, fun workplace offering veterinary services, boarding & day camp, and a pet store. AAHA accredited, we have served the Point Loma and Ocean Beach community since 1975.
Responsibilities- Room patients for procedures.
- Assist in surgeries and familiarize with surgical equipment.
- Draw blood and run laboratory work.
- Perform x‑ray procedures and position patients properly.
- Handle and restrain animals safely.
- Educate clients on animal care and wellness.
- Maintain a positive and motivating team environment.
- Registered Veterinary Technician in California; license active and in good standing.
- 3+ years clinical experience.
- Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
- Passion for working with animals and their owners.
- Experience with proper animal handling and restraint;
Fear Free preference. - Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to obtain accurate and thorough medical histories.
- Perform basic exam procedures.
- Skilled in venipuncture and IV catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular).
- Perform digital radiology (X‑ray) including positioning.
- Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x‑rays, scaling, polishing, charting, and extractions.
- Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique).
- Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); in‑house laboratory equipment.
- Preferably able to use ultrasound for diagnostic imaging and urine collection.
- Excellent client communication/education.
- Ability to perform technician appointments independently, including accurate medical record documentation.
