Description

The Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Medicine Nurse Practitioner will work with full-time faculty members in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences. The NP provides clinically expert care for Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Medicine (URPS) patients.

The NP will serve as a liaison between patients and physicians, assessing and determining the acuity of patient symptoms and communicating these to the surgeons as appropriate. Interview patients regarding the presenting problem to determine and expedite disposition. Performs outpatient clinical care to include independent clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, assists physicians as required, conveys instructions and lab results to patients, and provides health education as needed.

Triage patient calls, refill requests, and electronic messages. Prioritizes and resolves, involving Physicians as appropriate. Manages and documents all communications in the electronic medical record system. The position requires a strong emphasis on the complete care of the Urogynecologic patient, from pre- to peri- to post-op settings. Position requires special knowledge, skills, and abilities in the field of Urogynecology.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • State of California Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), or Nurse Practitioner (NP) license and Furnishing License Certification.
  • If a Nurse Practitioner, must possess a board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner, or Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, or Certified Nurse Midwife.
  • BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience as an NP or CNM in Women’s Health.
  • Recent direct outpatient clinical experience, including medical-surgical and triage expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide urogynecologic services.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations, identify medical problems, interpret diagnostic and laboratory data, and formulate appropriate inpatient and outpatient plans of care.
  • Ability to assess daily patient status and progress and communicate findings effectively to physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and implement orders related to patient treatment plans.
