Overview
This position is located in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, California.
Job Title: Nurse (ICU)
Salary Range: $139,017 to $174,443 per year.
Benefits:
Responsibilities- Respond to emergencies, codes, or rapid response team activities throughout the facility.
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for acutely ill and/or critically ill patient populations including children and adolescents.
- Perform procedures, treatments, and medication administration.
- Set up, operate, administer, and monitor sophisticated technical equipment such as cardiac monitors, ventilators, various intravenous infusion pumps, defibrillators, EKGs, cardiac monitors, oxygen analyzers, and hemodynamic monitoring equipment.
- Maintain stock levels of instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure their availability.
- Basic Requirement for Nurse (ICU): A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program, with required accreditation. (Must attach transcripts.)
- Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a professional nurse from a State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory; must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
- Foreign Degree: Graduates of foreign nursing schools must have completed the CGFNS Certification Program, including credential evaluation, CGFNS Qualifying Exam, and acceptable English Language Proficiency. CGFNS Certificate required.
- Exemption: Current federal employees in the 0610 occupational series, continuously employed since September 27, 2017 or earlier, are exempt from the basic requirements. Submit documentation to HR.
Professional Nursing
Experience:
One or more full years of professional nursing experience that includes administering medications; setting up, operating, and monitoring medical equipment; and providing nursing care to patient populations including children and adolescents. (Experience only; no education substitution.)
