OverviewThe Hospice Runner Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering direct care to patients in various settings. This role requires a skilled nurse with experience in hospice and community health, who is flexible and capable of managing patient visits as needed across different locations. The Runner Nurse is responsible for responding to urgent care needs, performing assessments, and providing hands-on care during visits.
This position works closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure effective care coordination and to facilitate smooth transitions for patients as their care needs evolve.
Schedule: Saturday & Sunday, 7:45 am - 4:15 pm

Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to hospice patients, including appropriate pain/symptom management
- Implement nursing practice following a comprehensive assessment and plan of care
- Provide accurate and timely documentation of patient services
- Assess and provide patient and family/caregiver education
- Participate in coordination of hospice services
- Provide appropriate pain/symptom management and evaluate patient response to treatments/medications
- Participate in professional growth and development opportunities and quality assessment activities
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal legal and regulatory requirements
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
- Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program with current licensure to practice in state of operation
Three years nursing experience. Community health/hospice or medical/surgical experience is
preferred
- Knowledge of the hospice philosophy of care
- Commitment to clinical and documentation excellence
Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or
organization requirements and is in good working order.
Possess and maintain current CPR certification.
