Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in the assigned department, performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of clinic activity. This includes prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, patient education, venipuncture and IV access. The position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize critical demands, and the ability to work in a team environment.
Other related duties as assigned.
LVN is responsible for all aspects of return-to-work status and updates for employees related to COVID-19 exposures and infection; duties include reviewing COVID-19 results, assisting with follow-ups on employee symptoms calls, answering calls, scheduling follow ups, returning to work and emailing work statuses, answering general questions regarding return-to-work guidelines, managing work queues in EPIC/in-boxes for return-to-work, end-of-shift reports, and daily reporting to COEM/EOC.
Documentation for return-to-work status is essential for daily reports to COEM/EOC.
- Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – issued by the state of California.
- Certification in Intravenous Therapy issued by the state of California (LVN IV).
- BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire date.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ LVN experience in direct patient care.
- Demonstrated recent experience in a similar role and setting.
- Skills in accurately taking and recording vital signs, height and weight; administering medications including injections; interviewing patients; and collecting specimens.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the patient flow process to efficiently monitor appointments, patients and available physicians.
- EPIC
- Occupational Health experience
- Experience with return-to-work program
- Ambulatory experience
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and/or process improvement
- Point of Care testing experience
- Bilingual:
English/Spanish - Demonstrated knowledge of the patient flow process to efficiently monitor appointments, patients and available physicians
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $74,980 - $93,229 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $35.91 - $44.65
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
