The Assistant Nurse Manager is involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing area(s). Promotes environment for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes. Accountable for the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Consults and collaborates with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care.

Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students and others.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor s or Master s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of California.
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Five (5+) or more years or relevant experience, including at least three (3) years of recent PACU or ICU experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.
  • Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.
  • Proven knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.
  • Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.
  • Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or relevant area.
  • Relevant specialty certification (e.g. CAPA, CPAN, CCRN).
  • One (1+) year or more of recent supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience with Epic EMR.
Special Conditions
  • This position is non-exempt and eligible for shift differentials.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $132,600 - $259,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $63.51 - $124.43
