Position: (RN) Per Diem Registered Nurse - Ortho PCU -Nights - 138115

Overview

UC San Diego Health is a Magnet-designated organization seeking a per-diem Registered Nurse on the Orthopedic Progressive Care Unit (PCU) for night shifts. Ideal candidates have experience in ICU, CCU, Step-down ICU, or Intermediate Care Unit (IMU).

Jacobs Medical Center, 9300 Campus Point Drive, San Diego, CA 92037, United States.

Responsibilities
  • Provide autonomous nursing care based on assessed patient needs, consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance.
  • Practice with independent judgment within interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Assess and implement nursing actions appropriate for patient populations and evolving conditions in a stepdown setting.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • RN License issued by the State of California.
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to obtain ART within six months of hire date.
  • Minimum one year of acute care RN experience in ICU, PCU, or IMU.
  • Understanding of nursing-sensitive indicators relevant to ICU/PCU/IMU and ability to apply them to promote quality and safety outcomes.
  • Critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions for complex conditions in a stepdown setting.
  • Ability to handle unexpected challenges with a patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrate empathy and kindness to staff and patients.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with all disciplines of staff, including technologists, physicians, advanced practice providers, and patients, in written and verbal form.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BSN.
  • Ortho certification.
  • Previous PCU RN experience or completion of PCU training.
  • Orthopedics experience.
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to work varied hours, days, shifts, on-call, and locations based on the Medical Center’s needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency

Annual Full Pay Range: $190,342 - $190,342 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $91.16 - $91.16

Factors in determining compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale in the job posting reflects the budgeted salary or hourly range the University expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
