Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center is San Diego's first comprehensive cardiovascular center providing heart and vascular programs in one central location and a heart and lung transplant program.
The Registered Nurse identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations, including heart and lung transplants, PTE patients, CABGs, valves, TAVR, Ventricular Assist Devices, stroke, and vascular surgical patients. This unit utilizes advanced training and skills to care for high acuity and complex patients.

Minimum Qualifications- Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
- RN License issued by the State of California.
- BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Minimum of one (1) year recent adult ICU experience.
- Ability to function in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment, demonstrating professionalism, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to navigate multiple competing priorities, analyze problems, determine appropriate intervention, and develop effective solutions for the cardiac patient population.
- Adherence to UCSD Health Medical Center (C.A.R.I.N.G.) Standards of Performance and professionalism in attire, attitude, conversation, behavior and attentiveness to others.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to build collaboration, encourage teamwork, and promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- BSN.
- CT/Heart experience.
- CCRN, CSC, and CMC certifications.
- Experience with cardiothoracic patients, balloon pumps, CRRT, and/or VAD.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on‑call and various locations based on the 24‑hour Medical Center's business needs.
- Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.
Annual Full Pay Range: $138,330 – $193,892 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%).
Hourly Equivalent: $66.25 – $92.86.
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
Vaccination & Certification RequirementsEmployees must comply with the University of California's Policy on Vaccination Programs. Life‑support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands‑on practice and in‑person skills assessment; online‑only certification is not acceptable.
