Job Description Summary

An Infusion Nurse II coordinates and provides intermediate direct patient care to patients in the home or an alternate infusion suite under a physician’s plan of care.

Job Responsibilities
  • Initiates, develops, and implements intermediate nursing plan of care treatments and evaluates patient progress toward goals.
  • Assesses patient needs and physical status at each visit, re-evaluates through reassessment, and obtains physician orders for plan of treatment revisions.
  • Provides training and mentorship to Infusion Nurse I’s as needed to ensure patient safety and compliance.
  • Communicates effectively with the clinical team, medical providers, patients, and families/caregivers to facilitate continuity of care.
  • Coordinates discharge planning and prepares discharge summaries with patient instructions and reports patient care needs.
  • Demonstrates compliance with agency operations, policies, and professional standards.
  • Maximizes work efficiency through the use of computers and automation technologies to validate plan of treatment orders.
  • Responds promptly and appropriately to patient requests and initiates emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Accepts accountability for own practice through ethical and professional conduct.
  • Observes legal and ethical guidelines for safeguarding patient confidentiality.
  • Speaks knowledgeably about Option Care’s scope of services and instructs patients about related financial obligations.
  • Attends required training modules and continues education to maintain competency and licensure.
  • Provides supervision in the absence of the supervisor or Nurse Manager as appropriate in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team conferences and mentors other nurses for orientation and supervisory activities as assigned.
  • Participates in nursing department on-call responsibilities.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
Basic Education And/or Experience
  • Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
  • Current CPR certification required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Demonstrated competency in patient care standards and infusion skill sets required for safe delivery of services.
  • Required licensure to operate a motor vehicle in the state of practice with proof of liability insurance.
  • Basic knowledge of computer operating systems and ability to use nursing technology tools for care documentation.
Physical Demand Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; maximum lifting of 75 pounds. Physical demands may involve walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, and fine motor skills.
  • Likelihood of occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, and other potentially infectious materials. Employees may encounter hazardous substances, needles, and variable home environments.
  • Safety requirements include closed‑toe shoes, facemask, goggles, gown, and gloves, and functioning devices for communication.
Travel Requirements
  • Willing to travel up to 100% of the time for business purposes.
Preferred Qualifications & Interests
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • 1–2 years of previous infusion nursing experience preferred.
