This position functions within a fast paced, multi specialty cardiovascular clinic that serves patients in Heart Failure, Electrophysiology, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Cardiology, and Stroke. The clinic RN delivers direct patient care, including administering IV diuretics, and provides ongoing coordination of outpatient services for the clinic’s diverse patient population. Key responsibilities include telephone triage for symptom related concerns, medication and care plan questions, and providing cardiology pre‑procedure instructions.
The RN also supports same‑day access to care when appropriate to help reduce emergency department visits and prevent avoidable readmissions. This role requires autonomous nursing practice, with the nurse assessing patient needs and implementing appropriate interventions based on clinical competence, professional expertise, and specialized knowledge. The RN is expected to practice independently in accordance with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance, applying sound clinical judgment within an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary care environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
- RN License issued by the State of California.
- BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as an outpatient/ambulatory care registered nurse.
- Cardiology clinic experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skill.
- Recent telephonic triage experience for multi‑specialty cardiology patients.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN.

- Must be able to work specific days of the week based on clinic’s business needs.
- Must be able to float to Encinitas, Banker’s Hill, and Medical Offices South cardiology clinic locations.
Pay Transparency Act:
Annual Full Pay Range: $180,716 - $180,716 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%).
Hourly Equivalent: $86.55 - $86.55.
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
