Overview
Become familiar with the facility's administrative structure as introduced in the pre-training orientation session. Use resident identification (wristband or photo card) before administering treatments, serving meals, or performing other procedures as necessary. Follow established policies for reporting accidents, incidents, and changes in resident condition. Record entries on flow sheets, notes, and charts in an informative, descriptive manner. Maintain confidentiality of resident information and promptly report suspected or known violations of privacy.
Report unauthorized access to the facility information system. Perform only nursing care procedures for which you have been trained. Ensure resident rooms are prepared for new admissions and greet and escort residents to their rooms. Manage personal possessions, support transfers and discharges, and assist with transportation as needed. Participate in nursing reports and follow policies on exposure to blood/body fluids.
Maintain cleanliness and order of resident spaces and assist with meals and daily care tasks as instructed. Follow work assignments and cooperate with staff to ensure nursing services meet resident needs.
- Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
- Make beds and adjust bedding as requested; measure and record temperatures, pulses, and respirations (TPRs); weigh and measure residents as instructed.
- Check residents who are unable to call for help and answer calls promptly.
- Assist with identifying food arrangements, record food/fluid intake, and report changes in eating habits.
- Keep water pitchers clean and filled; perform after-meal care (remove trays, cleanse hands/face/clothing).
- Assist with packing and transferring belongings; transport residents to new rooms or receiving areas; assist with loading/unloading to/from vehicles as needed.
- Inventory and mark resident possessions; store clothing; assist with discharges and transfers.
- Participate in and receive nursing reports; greet and introduce residents to roommates and others as appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident care information; report suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure; report suspected abuse or misappropriation of resident property.
- Honor resident refusals of treatment and report requests to supervisor.
- Perform tasks in accordance with policies and procedures; follow assignments and work schedules; cooperate with interdepartmental staff.
- Education and/or
Experience:
Must possess, as a minimum, an 8th grade education. - Language
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business material; ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to present information and respond to questions. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. - Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Prolonged use of a desk top or laptop computer. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read or hear. Frequent use of office equipment (copier/scanner/fax, telephone, calculator). May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies.
