DESCRIPTION

The RN provides skilled nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. UC San Diego Health offers surgical services in Neurology, Orthopedics, Urology, Plastics, General, Oncology, Head and Neck, Vascular and Open Heart, Gynecology. Additional services at Hillcrest include Trauma and Burn surgeries. This RN provides skilled nursing care to patients in the Preoperative Care Center and Perianesthesia Area.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

About the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion:
Located in Hillcrest, the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion is a state-of-the-art, 250,000-square-foot medical facility designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of our region. Spanning six floors, this advanced facility is home to key clinical programs and offers specialized diagnostic, treatment, and surgical services. With a strong emphasis on cancer care, we are committed to delivering world-class medical services in a patient-centered environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • RN License issued by the State of California.
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • PALS (must be obtained during 1st year of employment for new employees).
  • Must have at least two (2) years of recent acute care ICU or ER nursing experience.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN
  • CPAN , CCRN and/or CAPA
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Per diem shift requirement is an average of 1 shift per week. Must be available 1 weekend shift every 4 weeks and 1 major holiday. This is subject to change based on department needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $190,342 - $190,342 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $91.16 - $91.16
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
