DESCRIPTION

Reports to the Shiley Outpatient Eye Surgery unit (RN) Nurse Manager and responsibilities include direct oversight of staff and patient care needs for both the OR and Peri anesthesia settings. Functions as advisor to unit and administration. Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge.

Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.

The Assistant Nurse Manager is involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and/or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing unit(s) or area(s). Promotes environment for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes. Accountable for the quality, safety, patient experience and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Consults and collaborates with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care.

Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students and others. Supervises staff involved in providing clinical patient care. Assists in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery in a specific patient care area and serves as a role model for professional nursing practice. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources. May assume full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Five (5+) or more years or relevant experience, including at least three (3) years of recent Ophthalmic surgery RN experience.
  • Demonstrated hospital leadership skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.
  • Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.
  • Proven knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.
  • Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and able to lead a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or relevant area
  • CNOR
  • One (1) year or more of recent supervisor or management experience.
  • Scrubbing, circulating and/or Peri anesthesia RN experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Assistant Nurse Manager positions and eligible for shift differentials.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.
PAY TRANSPARENCY ACT

Annual Full Pay Range: $132,600 - $259,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%).

Hourly Equivalent: $63.51 - $124.43.
