Position Summary

Support the Family Services Lead in distribution of food items in the weekly community food pantry, stocking food items, unloading food items from drop‑offs, maintaining a clean food pantry environment, and supporting pick‑ups of food rescue items from the routes within San Diego County for redistribution to those facing food insecurity. The assistant may be utilized for other assignments as needed.

Essential

Functions
  • Support food rescue driver picking up food from various organizations within the seven routes in San Diego County.
  • Record and document temperatures, total counts, and other necessary information.
  • Assist in unloading food at the Corps, properly documenting the amount of food received for reporting purposes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Grant funded position requires current homeless status.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate well in English.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish helpful.
