Manufacturing Technical WriterLocation: Onsite | San Diego
Pay Range: $50–$58/hr DOE
Employment Type: Temp Contract
Start Date: ASAP
We’re partnering with a growing life sciences manufacturing organization to support a Manufacturing Technical Writer on a 12-month contract. This role sits close to the manufacturing floor and laboratory and plays a key role in ensuring documentation is clear, accurate, and usable by the teams who rely on it every day.
This is an onsite position for a technical writer who enjoys collaborating with manufacturing and technical teams, observing processes firsthand, and translating complex workflows into well-structured documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Create, update, and finalize Work Instructions and Batch Records used in a regulated manufacturing environment
- Partner closely with manufacturing teams to ensure documentation reflects real-world processes, equipment, and workflows
- Collaborate with Technical Operations to capture technical requirements and specifications
- Bring existing documentation through final review and approval stages
- Clean up and improve legacy documentation to improve clarity and consistency
- Support documentation for new projects transitioning from development into operations
- Apply Good Documentation Practices and GMP standards consistently
- Hands‑on, in‑lab and manufacturing floor presence is required
- Established templates, style guidelines, and documentation standards are already in place
- Collaborative team environment with clear priorities and minimal micromanagement
- Experience as a Technical Writer in a manufacturing or regulated environment
- Working knowledge of GMP and good documentation practices
- Comfort working onsite in a laboratory or manufacturing setting
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple documentation projects
- Clear written communication and a practical, detail‑oriented approach
- Lab experience
- Background in reagent or consumables manufacturing
- Exposure to ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 environments
- Experience with electronic batch records or electronic documentation systems
- Long‑term, full‑time contract with a clear scope and strong foundations in place
