This position is for Parker Hannifin’s Composite Sealing Systems Division, located in San Diego (Otay Mesa), California. The standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 5:00am - 1:30pm for 1st shift and 2:30pm - 11:00pm for 2nd shift.
General DescriptionThe Machining Associate III operates and maintains CNC and laser cutting machines to produce high-quality metal parts, following blueprints and standard procedures with minimal supervision. The associate demonstrates strong attention to detail, performs basic troubleshooting, and escalate issues when necessary. The associate actively participates in team goals and continuous improvement initiatives, ensures efficient production flow and adherence to quality and safety standards, and maintains a safe and inclusive work environment.
EssentialJob Functions
- Operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, milling, etc.
- Load raw materials, parts, and fixtures cutting tools into CNC machines.
- Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate the required number of parts.
- Supervise the machines while tasks are executed and seek site leadership for support to make necessary adjustments for improved results.
- Inspect, measure, and compare finished products against specifications to ensure conformance.
- Deburr parts per specification requirements using hand-held tools.
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
- Accurately collect daily production data and input it into the designated systems and databases.
- Read and follow blueprints mechanical drawings and standard operating procedures to complete operations.
- Load programs from DNC into CNC machine.
- Perform changeover cutting tools in CNC machines.
- Operate laser cutting machine.
- Comply with Parker's Quality policy and processes to ensure compliance to ISO, AS, and MS certifications.
- Adapt to changing production demands or shifts in priorities while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Foster an inclusive and respectful workplace by treating all team members with dignity and respect.
- Follow established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area.
- Work collaboratively with team members and actively participate in High-Performance Teams (HPT), Kaizens, and other Lean initiatives to drive continuous improvement initiatives and enhance operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Certified Operator
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of experience operating CNC machinery
Skills
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondences, and memos in English.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.

- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use hands and fingers for detailed work over extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a focus on accuracy and efficiency for extended periods of time.
- Ability to wear required PPE throughout the entirety of the shift.
- Ability to use power tools and heavy machinery.
