Machinist
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both manual machining and CNC set-up. Expertise in Manual Lathe and CNC Mill operations is essential, with programming skills being highly preferred. Experience with Swiss Screw machines is a plus but not required. Candidates will work with 3-axis Haas machines using Mastercam controls and are expected to perform their own quality checks. This is a HIGH-LEVEL position in a smaller machine shop where versatility is key, as everyone may be involved in various roles including programming, set-up, and operation.
Leadership and management skills highly desired.
- Review and verify dimensions and tolerances in drawings to determine the best setup and work operation sequences.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, or materials onto machines.
- Manufacture jigs, fixtures, dies, molds, machine tools, cutting tools, gauges, and production tooling used in manufacturing processes.
- Utilize knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, to perform assignments.
- Verify conformance of finished products to specifications.
- Identify and repair minor machine malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjusting machine controls as required.
- Read and interpret drawings, sketches, and documentation related to parts.
- Take verbal concepts/inputs to produce parts.
- Measure parts using height gages, micrometers, calipers, and other measurement tools and equipment.
- Perform deburr, painting, and other miscellaneous tasks associated with completing parts production as required.
- Confer with supervisors, production personnel, programmers, engineers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Pack and move parts as required for additional processing and/or inspection.
- Ensure compliance with company safety and environmental requirements.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
- 4-5 years of production experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of machine shop experience, including CNC and conventional machines.
- Proficiency in using Master
CAM and basic computer skills. - Ability to use shop mathematics, drawings, and measuring tools.
- Experience with measurement and inspection equipment to verify parts specifications and dimensions.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering documentation, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation and drawings.
Skills & Qualifications
- General knowledge of tooling and efficient machining practices.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Understanding of 5S and Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
- Must possess U.S. citizenship or be a "U.S. Person".

Work EnvironmentLocated in San Diego, CA, the work schedule is from 6am to 2:30pm for the first six months, with flexible start times of 5am or 7am thereafter. The role involves working with 3-axis Haas machines with Mastercam controls, in a setting where safety and cleanliness are prioritized.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of SAN DIEGO, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
