Manufacturing Engineer – Softgel Production
We are currently looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and contribute to the support and ongoing optimization of our softgel compounding and encapsulation operations. This role will focus heavily on daily support for the softgel production team, addressing operational challenges, boosting throughput, implementing lean practices, and developing comprehensive work instructions. Additionally, the position plays a crucial role in driving continuous improvement and providing team training to increase operational efficiency.
This is an on site role in San Diego, CA
Responsibilities- Collaborate with the R&D team to ensure smooth transitions and successful commercialization of new product lines.
- Enhance manufacturing processes and equipment to support ongoing operational improvements.
- Draft, revise, and train personnel on GMP-compliant Work Instructions (WIs).
- Serve as a subject matter expert in softgel manufacturing, providing hands-on support to the production team to streamline processes.
- Contribute to Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), Root Cause Analyses (RCA), and initiatives such as Kaizen and 5S programs.
- Actively participate in lean manufacturing efforts by identifying and implementing cost-reduction opportunities to support efficient production.
- Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies aimed at maximizing productivity, reducing operational waste, and enhancing product quality.
- Apply statistical tools to assess variables, optimizing the encapsulation line for better performance and consistency.
- Oversee capital equipment projects, including upgrades and installations, and perform validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ).
- Ensure all mechanical processes and systems meet health, safety, and environmental standards and comply with relevant industry regulations.
- Monitor and research technological advancements in manufacturing to propose enhancements that maintain the facility’s competitive edge in operational excellence.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
