Overview
Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager. Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located at our Tijuana, Baja California facility and reports to our Director of Operations.
Position SummaryThe Production Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day production activities across multiple shifts in assigned production areas. The Production Manager will oversee the production process and coordinate all activities to ensure enough resources on hand to support the production schedule, including resource capacity planning, technician schedules, and availability of direct/indirect materials.
Essential Functions- Lead by example that Safety is a way of life
- Reaffirm existing production goals, or establish new goals, and lead the group effort to achieve those goals
- Ensure operations metrics are well-known, and track daily progress toward achieving enterprise objectives
- Lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives for safety, on-time delivery, production efficiency, and scrap reduction
- Develop the capabilities of those in the department through teaching, coaching, establishing high standards, and ensuring accountability
- Monitor workflow to ensure that schedules are met and bottlenecks are identified and effectively managed
- Analyze and implement process flow improvements. Determine and assure optimum personnel staffing
- Optimize, implement, and assure production efficiency and product quality
- Implement strategies to increase efficiency, improve quality, improve on-time delivery, and ensure continuous improvement
- Work with quality assurance to identify and correct product or system deficiencies
- Exhibit and promote an attitude on the plant floor that leads to an engaged and energized workforce
- Maintain a safe, clean, and secure work environment. Support and participate in plant safety training to determine and help eliminate safety issues, unsafe acts, and conditions to preclude accidents and achieve safety goals
- Increase throughput, reduce inventories, and reduce operating expenses continuously. Implement and maintain a minimum of 5S with focus on continual improvement toward Operational Excellence
- Operate in compliance with the Rock West Composites Quality System and Quality Policy. Adhere to AS9100 certification and compliance requirements
- Comply with Rock West Composites policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct
- Meet all safety and environmental compliance requirements for all local, state, and federal agencies
- Regular interface with Quality, Engineering Services, Research and Development, and Program Managers to establish clear lines of communication and provide task status
- Provide leadership to production supervision through technical leads in support of production processes
- Provide technical guidance to the integrated production team
- Collaborate on research and selection of equipment, vendors, and consultants for task resolution
- Maintain control of production processes
- Provide input to design, fabrication, implementation, and review of production tooling, jigs, and fixtures
- General Shop Supervision
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible Manufacturing leadership in a production environment in the composites industry
- Previous supervisory experience and job shop experience required
- Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills; able to work effectively across all areas of the business
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
- Current computer literacy including full proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and working knowledge of basic production planning
- Eligible candidate must be: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or a person lawfully admitted for permanent residence

Max. 4 weeks after 5 years of employment - $2,500 tuition reimbursement
The hourly pay range for this position falls within $40-$50. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, skillset, and other factors permitted by law.
