Job Title: Sheet Metal Installer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Installer to join our team. The role involves installing and constructing bulkheads, ceiling panels, doors and trim, windows, rails, and other related construction activities. You will work with large sheet metal pieces, valves, bulkheads, and other internal components of Navy ships, adhering to Navy standards and reading blueprints.
Responsibilities- Install and assemble large sheet metal pieces, valves, bulkheads, and other components of Navy ships.
- Assist in the installation of insulation for compartment floors, ceilings, and interior/exterior walls.
- Work with Tac welding and large sheet-metal pieces to position them for welders.
- Fabricate, assemble, modify, install, and repair various sheet metal products such as shipboard ventilation systems, housings, shields, metal partitions, and more.
- Study blueprints, sketches, and drawings to determine dimensions and setup requirements.
- Set up and operate machine tools like press brakes, shears, punches, rollers, and more to fabricate parts to specifications.
- Utilize hand tools such as grinders, drills, rivet guns, and calipers to verify conformance of fabricated items to blueprint specifications.
- Minimum of 3+ years of marine experience.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints for layout, assembly, and installation.
- Knowledge of physical properties and working characteristics of sheet metal.
- Experience with shipboard installation/repair, particularly aboard CVN Class Navy ships.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain DBIDS.
Skills & Qualifications
- Marine sheet metal habitability experience.
- Experience working in a shipyard/ship repair environment.
- Knowledge of shop mathematics and principles.
- Familiarity with metalworking machines and precision instruments.

Work EnvironmentWork will be performed at various shipyard facilities in San Diego, CA, including locations such as Nassco, BAE, CMSD, North Island, and the Naval Base on 32nd street.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
