Position: PAINTER WORKER with Security Clearance
Duties
* You will apply protective and decorative paint finishes to aircrafts, aircraft components and accessories, and engine components.
* You will prepare aircrafts, engines, ground support equipment and components for finish using various chemicals, detergents, and solvents.
* You will read and interpret specifications, sketches, blueprints, technical directives, manuals and shop orders to obtain information on surfaces to be coated.
* You will use trade related tools and equipment including, but not limited to paint guns, sanders, air hoses, sealant guns, paint removing abrasives, and masking materials. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Must be a US Citizen.
* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
* Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* Must have knowledge of various aircraft metals to be shot peened, such as aluminum, steel, magnesium and titanium.
* Must be skilled at using a variety of electrolytic and chemical processes to accomplish precision, protective, and decorative metallic or nonmetallic finishes on a wide array of metal and metal alloy objects.
* Must have ability to restore worn metal surfaces to original dimensions with successive precision buildups of zincate, copper and chrome. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

The Screen-out Element for this position is ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A PAINTER WORKER, WG- 4102-07 without more than normal supervision such as:
* Reading and understanding specifications, sketches, blueprints, technical directives, manuals, and shop orders, to obtain information on surfaces to be coated;
* Setting up, and using related trade tools and equipment such as conventional paint guns (pressure suction), pressure pots, airless equipment (pump sprayers and guns); air-assisted electrostatic paint guns, orbital sanders, component machines (pressure requirements, proportioning ratios), hoses, blast helmets, sanders, sealant guns, hand tools, etc.;
* Applying cleaning characteristics of more common metals, metal alloys, synthetic materials (i.e., brass, corrosion resistant steels, aluminum, iron, steel, Monel, and other metals or nonmetals) with standard sand like abrasive agents such as metal grit, metal shot, seed, glass bead, plastic media blast, or others that are used in blasting machines and cabinets;
* Applying the proper methods and techniques of blasting such as distance of nozzle from surfaces, duration of blasting, angle of blast, and methods for positioning and holding work pieces;
* Carrying out appropriate setup and operation of shot peening cabinets and other equipment;
* Reading and interpreting engineering instructions and simple blueprints;
* Testing for proper time and pressure by means of Almen test strips;
* Working on/with various aircraft metals to be shot peened, such as aluminum, steel, magnesium and titanium;
