Outside Machinist

Craft and Technical Solutions is an established Marine and Industrial Staffing Company with offices all over the country. We partner with businesses as well as jobseekers to place individuals into positions efficiently. We are currently in need of Outside Machinists to join our team in San Diego, CA.

Pay Rate: $25-35/hour

Responsibilities:

* Install equipment on naval vessels in a safe and productive manner.

* Disassemble, fault find, repair and reassemble shipboard equipment as directed by the supervisor.

* Inspection of work, identification of potential problems, initiation of corrective actions.

* Increase awareness of quality procedures within department

* Ensure adherence to correct work procedures.

* Continuously improve communications and flexibility within the team.

* Contribute to innovation/productivity improvements.

* Read technical bulletins and diagrams in relation to work being performed.

* Work towards the team goal of delivering the vessel on time.

* Ensure work area is left clean, all equipment and tools are stowed away safely and protected against damage.

Requirements

* Minimum 2 years of shipyard or Naval (machinist mate) experience.

* DBIDS eligibility required.

* Must have reliable/own transportation.

* Must be fire watch certified.

* 11 panel Drug Screen

* Comfortable with heights

* Lift 50lbs without assistance

* Must understand the layout of the ship and compartment identification.

* Basic reading, writing and math skills required.

* Strong mechanical aptitude required.

* Knowledge of ship terminology required.

* Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings.

* Demonstrated ability to safely operate all fixed and non-fixed machinery.

* Ability set up machinery to meet flatness tolerance requirements.

* Demonstrated ability to interpret job specifications.

* Ability to perform work on marine vessels.

* Must be able to follow directions and work with limited supervision.

* Proven problem-solving abilities.
