Northrop Grumman Mission System’s Connectivity and Network Solutions Business Unit has an immediate opening for a Program Director - Tactical Fighter Modernization position located at our Rancho Carmel, San Diego, CA facility, requiring travel to other Northrop Grumman facilities, customer, and supplier sites as needed. This position reports directly to the Fighter Networked Systems Operating Unit Director and is a full-time onsite position.
As the portfolio lead for Development Programs in the Fighter Networked Systems Operating Unit, the director will be tasked with ensuring successful development and execution of existing programs, as well as the strategic pursuit of new business opportunities to grow the business portfolio. In addition, the director will be responsible for the management and people leadership of a team of program managers leading the various programs and pursuits in the portfolio.
This is a leadership position with daily executive interactions internally and externally, and the successful candidate must display consistent impeccable judgment and embody Northrop Grumman leadership behaviors. The successful candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels and geographically dispersed teams and customers, including executive leadership.
The Program Director will lead all phases of programs from capture and inception through completion and closeout.
Responsibilities- Serve as portfolio lead for Development Programs in the Fighter Networked Systems Operating Unit; ensure successful development and execution of existing programs and strategic pursuit of new opportunities.
- Provide management and people leadership of a team of program managers across the portfolio.
- Engage in daily executive interactions internally and externally; demonstrate judgment and leadership behaviors.
- Lead all phases of programs from capture through closeout, including cost, schedule, and technical performance management.
- Participate in contract and contract changes negotiations; coordinate proposals, business plans, investment plans, and financial terms.
- Act as customer contact for program and capture activities; lead program review sessions with customers on cost, schedule, and technical performance and new business opportunities.
- Develop new business through offset, teaming, non-traditional contractors, and large subcontractor strategies.
- Direct technical investments and strategic business decisions, including shared product development across diverse customer bases.
- Establish milestones, monitor master plans and schedules, identify problems and determine solutions such as resource allocation or contract adjustments.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field with 12+ years of related experience or 10+ years with Master’s Degree
- 8+ years of management experience in Engineering Management, Functional Management, or Program Management
- Demonstrated expertise in customer shaping and engagement strategies to establish customer intimacy
- Demonstrated program execution expertise
- Ability to build and lead a program management team and delegate responsibilities
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
- Understanding of EVMS and Risk and Opportunity Management
- Experience with New Business / Capture Management
- Demonstrated leadership skills in a team environment
- Experience with DoW & international customers and/or partners
- Active DoW Secret Clearance or DoE equivalent, with ability to obtain SAP clearances
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration
- 15+ years of experience in government program management or DoD
- 10+ years of management experience in Engineering Management or Program Management
- Experience with Affordability and Capture Management Plans
- Knowledge of communications and networking technologies
- Active DoD TS/SCI
