Facility Operations and Maintenance Division – General Maintenance Worker (SC)

Job Summary:

Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, requiring practical skill in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

• Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
• Use plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
• Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
• Paint structures and equipment.
• Repair or replace concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
• Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.
• Hang doors, install door locks, and replace broken window panes.
• Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Other duties assigned.

• Proficient written and oral communication skills.
• Ensure on‑time service delivery and address vendor performance issues.
• Navigate issues, problems, and concerns to achieve positive outcomes for customers.
• Identify and escalate support situations requiring urgent attention.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment.
• Experience hanging doors, installing door locks, and replacing broken window panes preferred.
• Able to understand verbal or written directions from lead supervisor or other craftsmen.

• Lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop, kneel for short periods; climb a ladder; stand for long periods; maintain constant arm extensions.
• Occasional exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals; minor safety hazards such as cuts and bruises may occur.

• Must successfully pass a federal, state, or local government background investigation.
